The OFFICIAL LT/Lauren Baby Pool

So… Most of you know LT and Lauren are gonna have a baby.  What you don’t know, is that we can play a game, where the winner gets…. Baby Naming Rights!!  j/k….

Anyways, wouldn’t it be cool to have fun at their expense?  What we have here is a Baby Pool, where each one hr time slot can be purchased for $1.  Whoever guesses the correct time will get a Super Special Super Secret Super Cool Super Prize from SNL Core….AND….will choose the Non-Profit / Charity where the money will be donated to.

To play, just go to the link below and fill out your name and email address, next to the time slot you wish to purchase….and that’s it. Easy right?  ONLY ONE NAME per time slot….please no cheating…I get a notice of each edit anyways….So, you guys are sorta on the honor system.  Pick as many time slots as you want! Only $1 an hr.

Lauren – “lots of babies are born during full moons and the most popular day of the week for babies to be born is tuesday, the most popular month of the year…august, we’re dubbing tuesday as the trifecta”

chinatown church carnival, saturday 6/21 – 6 to 9pm

Come join our chinatown carnival this saturday.  There will be games and food from 6pm – 9pm for all to enjoy.  If you would like to help setup and man game/food stations, please let me know…volunteers are needed.  This is a great way to get to know the chinatown community just a little better.

A Life of Service…Why? SNL Large Group – Friday 2/1 7:30 PM Vine Campus

Have you ever seen the movie Planes, Trains and Automobiles?  I just saw it this past weekend and was reminded why this movie ranked right up there with Kindergarten Cop as a couple of my favorite movies when I was in elementary school.   The movie centers on the travel between 2 guys, Steve Martin and John Candy.  Basically, Steve Martin is a busy business man trying to get home for Thanksgiving….who is joined by John Candy, as the most annoying person in the world.  So, what’s this have to do with service?  It got me thinking…as to how is it possible to serve people completely unlike me?  Why would I serve someone that gets on my nerves?  Is it my problem or theirs?  Why should I serve this person, when it seems like I get nothing in return?  Why am I looking for something in return?  We hope to tackle some of our current ideas of service and what it means to live as a servant in our next large group.

It’s So Hard to Say Good-Bye…to Yesterday

This weekend, many of us will bid farewell to our beloved place for community, fellowship, and of course good home-style cooked food. As you know, word on the street is that Lakeside Chinese Deli will be closing this Sunday 12/30 as Auntie Brenda and her staff will embark onto their new journey into retirement.

So my friends,  eat up that scrumptious beef brisket hot pot, along with their lightly but heartly crispy squid, topped with their smooth egg sauce over rice for one last time. Also, be sure to thank Auntie Brenda and the rest of the Lakeside family for the many memories over the years and loving us with their hospitality and service to us and the rest of the Chinatown community…

(Almost) Famous!

SNL’s very own Susan Hom had her book signing at Ross Commons (Drexel campus) last Tuesday to introduce her new books. Check out the releases at your local bookstores (or ask her where you can get them). She would probably sign them for you too.

November Large Group – Finding Meaning – My Family and Me

Friday 11/9 7:30pm at Vine Campus.  We’re looking at what’s it mean to be like Christ in our Family.  What is family?  What is our role?  Note, this is not the 1st Friday of the month, but the 2nd Friday.  CCEF conference is on the first friday.   Join us as we discuss this, with the wisdom gained through the experience of our Church family.

One Last Hurrah….BBQ and Pumpkin Carving/Decorating
